This Fully Wearable Medieval Leather Brigandine with Belts is made of Saddle Grade Leather of 13/15 oz molded leather and Wax hardended to ensure retension of Shape and add protection to warrior.
This brigandine was originated by Dark Age warriors to enhance the protection of chain mail. As chain mail could be cut by well-made strong swords, an outer protective vest was made with metal plates riveted between two layers of leather. This kind of construction made it easy enough for a warrior to make and repair his own armor without needing the high skill of an armorer. This is Usually worn over a chain mail shirt and gambeson, it was not long before this form of protection was in wide use with warriors from knight to archer. Adjustable straps buckle over the shoulders and along one side to allow a custom fit from 40-44" chest over gambeson and chainmail. The plate on the other side can be shaped to fit the contour of your torso
