Medieval Norman Shield (Wooden)
The shield named "Scutum" was the main body protection shield of the norman soldiers. It was used to prevent the targeted rapiers, arrows, aimed at the soldiers. Its also provided safety from hand held arms. The big size of shield permitted the soldiers to form a protection or a wall of shield that could defend them during the battle.
